Warwickshire players selected for England 1968-1970. Five typed letters received by Leslie Deakins, Secretary of Warwickshire C.C.C. from the M.C.C./ T.C.C.B. at Lord’s, each advising that Warwickshire players had been selected to play for England in Test matches. Letters are dated 31st May 1968, David Brown, Dennis Amiss and Tom Cartwright selected for the Old Trafford Test v Australia. 16th June 1968, Tom Cartwright and Dennis Amiss for the Lord’s Test, both signed by Doug Insole, Chairman of the Selection Committee. 19th July 1969, David Brown to play at Lord’s v New Zealand. 6th August 1970, Dennis Amiss for England v. Rest of the World at Lord’s, both signed by Alec Bedser, T.C.C.B. Selection Sub-Committee. 22nd July 1970, Lance Gibbs to play for Rest of the World v England at Headingley, signed by Freddie Brown, T.C.C.B. Selection Sub-Committee. Sold with a typed letter dated 12th January 1967 to Deakins from Sir Alec Douglas Home in his capacity as President of the National Playing Fields Association, requesting that Lance Gibbs be made available to play in a match in Glasgow. Deakins’ reply of 23rd January states there is no objection subject to confirmation that Gibbs would be permitted by the West Indies Board to join Warwickshire. Qty 7. Good condition.
