Yorkshire c.1950s. A tablecloth comprising thirty five embroidered signatures of Test and County cricketers and other sports personalities of the period, with Yorkshire white rose emblems to centre and four corners. The signatures were collected in pencil and later embroidered in different coloured threads with some original signatures visible below the embroidery, and the odd additional signature not embroidered. Yorkshire players’ signatures include Herbert Sutcliffe, Billy Sutcliffe, Len Hutton, Johnny Wardle, Vic Wilson, Norman Yardley, Frank Lowson, Alex Coxon, Brian Sellers, and Eddie Leadbeater. Other cricketers include Bill Edrich (Middlesex), Trevor Bailey (Essex), Reg Simpson (Nottinghamshire), Billy Griffith (Sussex), Ken Cranston (Lancashire), and other sports personalities including Fred Perry (tennis), Dan Maskell, Max Robertson (tennis commentators), Fred Daly, Dai Rees, Babe Zaharias, Peggy Kirk (golf), Gilbert Harding (journalist) etc. Approx. 32” square.
