Wills’s Cigarettes ‘Cricketers’ 1896. W.D. & H.O. Wills, Bristol & London. Thirty unnumbered cigarette cards from the full set of fifty, with colour portraits of cricketers of the period, printed name and county to lower portion to front, and decorative floral green backgrounds. The cricketers featured are Attewell, Bainbridge, Briggs, Chatterton, Druce, Ferris, Grace, Lord Hawke, A. Hearne, J.T. Hearne, Hewett, Jackson, Key, Lilley, Lohmann, Lucas, McGregor, Mold, Mordaunt, Murdoch, Newham, Nichols, O’Brien, Pougher, Quaife, Shrewsbury, Stoddart, de Trafford, Tyler and Wainwright. Odd faults including light creasing to the Briggs card, minor wear to the front of the Lord Hawke, adhesive marks to verso of the Ferris, J.T. Hearne, Hewitt, Jackson, Key, Lilley, McGregor, Nicholls, Quaife, Stoddart and Wainwright cards, the Mold card appears to be laid to tightly trimmed white card. Otherwise in good condition.
