M.C.C. tour of Australia 1924/25. Small black photograph album containing nineteen original candid photographs from the tour. The photographs, mainly postcard size featuring both England and Australian players appear to have taken just prior to the team departure from the Australian mainline to visit Launceston, Tasmania for their tour match in late January 1925. Many of the photographs are taken in a wooded area, maybe an excursion of some sort. Players and officials include Toone (manager), Hendren, Strudwick, Kilner, Sutcliffe, Tate, Gilligan, Sandham, Hobbs (signed), Hampden Love, Bill Ferguson (baggage man), Whysall, Mayne, Liddicut, W. Carkeek, Ponsford, Bardsley, Grimmett, A. Richardson, Ellis etc. Six of the photographs show the various players at a ships wharf in Melbourne prior to departure to Launceston. The album also include a signed postcard of Jack Hobbs, with good handwritten correspondence to a Mr Stamper to back c mid 1920’s, Phillips ‘Pinnace’ premium issue cabinet size real photograph trade card of Lionel Tennyson, seven smaller candid photographs of Derbyshire players and team in a match circa 1930’s, players include Elliott, Mitchell, Smith, Alf Pope, Wilkes postcard size team photograph of Derbyshire team etc. All the photograph loosely laid down to top edge only.
