Charles Jesse Kortright. M.C.C. & Essex 1893-1907. Original mono cabinet card photograph of Kortright, full length in bowling pose at the wicket. E. Hawkins & Co. of Brighton. Card measures 4.25”x6.5”. Vertical crease, minor bumping to corners, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
Kortright was regarded as the fastest bowler of his day, and by some to have been the fastest to appear in first-class County cricket. He took 489 wickets at an average of 21.05, with best innings figures of 8/59. He was also a useful batsman, scoring two first-class centuries.
