South Africa tour to England 1929. Original mono printed photograph of the South Africa touring party seated and standing in rows, the players wearing cricket attire. Very nicely signed in black ink to the photograph by all fifteen players depicted and the two officials. Signatures are Deane (Captain), Siedle, Ochse, Taylor, Catterall, van der Merwe, Cameron, Owen-Smith, Mitchell, Morkel, Bell, Christy, Quinn, McMillan, Dalton, Frielinghaus (Manager) and Frames (Secretary). Also signed to the top left corner by Cyril Vincent who is not present in the photograph. Eighteen signatures in total. The image measures 11”x7.5”, and is laid down to original photographer’s mount with printed names to lower border. The mount has been tightly trimmed, flush to the right edge of the photograph. Photographer unknown. Ex J.W. Goldman collection. Includes a trimmed handwritten caption from the original album page. Good condition. Nice signatures.
The following six lots from the collection of J.W. Goldman are original press photographs taken during New Zealand’s first ever Test match abroad, played at Lord’s in 1931.
