‘Famous Cricketers and Cricket Grounds’. C.W. Alcock 1895. Bound copy with original wrappers for each edition. Good condition. Sold with ‘Cricket of Today and Yesterday’. Volumes 1 and 2. Percy Cross Standing. London 1904 and ‘The Book of Cricket’. C.B. Fry 1895. All with original pictorial boards. The Alcock with worn, stained and faded boards, wear to spine, internally good, the Cross Standing with some wear to head and base of spine otherwise in good condition and the Fry with cellophane covering to book boards otherwise in good condition. Sold with a bound copy of ‘The Illustrated London News’ Vol LXXX1. July to December 1882 which contains double page engravings of ‘The Cricket Match. Australia v England at Kennington Oval’, pages 266/267 and ‘The Australian Cricketers’, pages 238/239, together with match report and scorecard of the Ashes victory at the Oval, page 250. Another single cricket page ‘Well Stopped’, page 352 and ‘The End of the Cricket Season’, page 353 is badly torn. Child like scribble to the end papers and to several pages within the volume. Qty 4
