‘The Australian Cricket Team 1909’. A full set of mono and sepia individual postcards of the fifteen members of the Australian cricket team who toured England in 1909. Eleven of the postcards are real photograph and were issued as ‘The Australian Cricket Team 1909’ by Davidson Brothers and feature H.Carter, A.J. Hopkins, V.T. Trumper, R.J.Hartigan, M.A. Noble, V.S. Ransford, S.E. Gregory, A. Cotter, W.W. Armstrong, W.J. Whitty and C.G. MaCartney, the remaining four postcards are mono printed postcards of the players and feature W. Bardsley, J.A. O’Connor, W. Carkeek and F. Laver. Fourteen of the fifteen postcards are signed in ink by the player featured, the only exception being Frank Laver. Some ‘light’ fading to some signatures to a greater or lesser extent, some wear to two of the signatures but all of the signatures are legible. The signature on the postcard of Albert Cotter very good. The postcards are mounted to a display board with printed title to top border, each player with printed name below each postcard and to the lower left hand corner are the statistical details of the Australian tour with scores and results and to the right acknowledgement that Mr C.A.F. Hastilow, former Chairman of Warwickshire C.C.C. had donated fourteen of the fifteen postcards. The display board measures 24”x20”. Ex Warwickshire C.C.C. Collection
