Sir Charles Aubrey Smith. Sussex, Cambridge University, Transvaal & England 1882-1896. Mono plain back real photograph postcard of Smith in later years wearing formal attire. Very nicely signed in black ink ‘C. Aubrey Smith’ to the photograph. Photographer unknown. Postally unused. Minor silvering otherwise in very good condition.
Aubrey Smith played for England and Sussex and captained them in 1887 and 1888. He also captained the Shaw & Shrewsbury team to Australia in 1887/88. He gained fame in the 1930/40’s as a Hollywood actor and appeared in numerous films. He died in 1948.
