Harry Lester Simms. Sussex, Europeans & Warwickshire 1905-1922. Rare sepia real photograph portrait postcard of Simms depicted seated half length wearing cricket attire. Very nicely signed in black ink to the photograph by Simms and dated 15th December 1915. Blind embossed stamp to lower right corner for Bourne & Shepherd in India. Postally unused. Minor adhesive marks to verso, small crease to one corner, otherwise in very good condition. A nice image and excellent signature.
Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Harry Simms moved to England where he played county cricket for Sussex 1905-1913. He was a member of the Europeans tours to India 1909/10-1916/17 and would have been there in 1915 when this portrait photograph was taken. He later played five matches for Warwickshire 1921-1922.
