E.W. Ballantyne, South African sports journalist. Mono postcard with Ballantyne depicted three quarter length with pipe in mouth, holding a split and hinged bat. Printed caption below, ‘Capt. E.W. Ballantyne with his famous six-paged Cricket Bat, given to him by Victor Trumper in 1902, and now autographed by over 400 Test Cricketers’. To verso a printed biography of Ballantyne who ‘has toured with over 20 International Cricket teams through England, Australia, and South Africa; reported nearly 100 Test Matches; and spoken over the air during cricket tours...’. Signed in ink to the front by Ballantyne and dated ‘Feb 1932’. Postally unused. Soiling and some wear, otherwise in generally good condition.
