John Lindsay ‘Jack’ Bryan. Kent & Cambridge University 1919-1932. ‘M.C.C. Australian Tour. 1924-25’. Rare sepia printed Christmas postcard of the M.C.C. touring party 1924-25 with title and players’ names printed to borders. Nicely signed in ink by all eighteen members of the touring party including the Manager, Toone, to the face of the card. Players’ signatures are Gilligan (Captain), Douglas, Hobbs, Woolley, Hearne, Strudwick, Bryan, Tyldesley, Tate, Whysall, Chapman, Hendren, Kilner, Sandham, Freeman, Sutcliffe and Howell. Printed Christmas greeting to verso, signed by Jack Bryan and dated ‘Sydney, Dec 23rd [1924]’. Publisher unknown. Complete with original envelope addressed to a ‘Miss Hogarth’ in Killara, postmarked Sydney, 23rd December 1924. Minor creasing to the postcard, otherwise in good condition. Nice signatures.
Jack Bryan was a member of the 1924/25 M.C.C. tour to Australia but was never selected to play in a Test match. Bryan served in the British Army in the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross in 1918.
