‘Talking Cricket’. Six long playing 12” vinyl records, each side comprising a narration by the cricket commentator, Martin Young, on the subject of international Test grounds. Produced by the South African Broadcasting Corporation, date unknown, probably late 1960s/ early 1970s. Each record in original decorative sleeve. Titles are No. 1 Lord’s, London, No. 2 Gabba, Brisbane, No. 3 Old Trafford, Manchester, No. 4 Old Lords and Kingsmead, Durban, No. 5 Sydney, No. 6 Kennington Oval, London, No. 7 Newlands, Cape Town, No. 8 Melbourne, No. 9 Trent Bridge, Nottingham, No. 10 West Indies, No. 11 Headingley, Leeds, and No. 12 Old Wanderers, Ellis Park and New Wanderers, Johannesburg. Each record with matrix numbers printed to labels and etched to runout ‘LT 10,827-F’ to ‘LT 10,838-F’ respectively. Very good condition.
At the end of his playing career, Douglas Martin Young (Worcestershire & Gloucestershire 1946-1964) emigrated to South Africa where he appeared regularly on radio as a cricket commentator.
