Australia tour to England 1934. Official menu for the ‘Complimentary Dinner to the Australian Team’ held on 14th May 1934 at Lord’s Hotel during the M.C.C. v Australians tour match. The decorative front cover with borders in M.C.C. colours and printed illustrations of the M.C.C. emblem and Ashes urn surrounded by cherubs, printed title to centre. Below it two hands shaking are depicted above a ship, and an angel. Menu and toast list to centre pages. Signed in pencil to the front cover by eighteen attendees. Signatures of the Australians include Woodfull (Captain), Ponsford, Oldfield, Ebeling, McCabe, Chipperfield, Barnett, Fleetwood-Smith, Brown, O’Reilly, Valentine, Bromley, for M.C.C. Chapman (Captain), Turnbull, Wyatt, White, Marriott etc. Very good condition.
The match ended in a draw. For M.C.C. Hendren scored 135 in the first innings. In reply, Ponsford ended 281no and McCabe made 192. M.C.C. held out in the second innings for the draw with two wickets in hand, opener Wyatt carrying his bat for 102no.
