Basil Easterbrook, cricket and sports journalist. Seventeen pages of articles handwritten in pencil by Easterbrook covering the 5th (final) Test, England v West Indies, Kennington Oval 12th- 17th August 1976. Easterbrook reports on a match featuring two first innings double centuries, 291 by Viv Richards for West Indies, and Dennis Amiss with 203 for England. West Indies won by 231 runs to take the series 3-0, the first two Tests having been drawn. Easterbrook reports that this final Test was marred by a pitch invasion, ‘for the first time in the history of Test cricket in this country playing time was lost because of riot conditions’. Previously from the collection of Irving Rosenwater, the pages are contained in a buff envelope annotated to the front in different coloured inks by Rosenwater, titled ‘Basil Easterbrook Manuscript Reports... for all morning newspapers in Thomson Group and “The Scotsman”’. Good/ very good condition.
