A Frowd’s Patent Presentation bat of 1884. The bat with impressed makers’ Trade Marks depicting an elephant to the shoulders of the face, with ‘Frowd’s Patent Extra Spring Anti-concussive Handle’ across the splice and maker’s details for ‘James Lillywhite, Frowd & Co. Manufacturers’ of Newington Causeway, Borough, London below. The remainder of the slightly convex face is plain. The back is slightly humped, the toe modelled for a right-handed batsman. To the back is a silver metal plaque engraved ‘Presented to J.W. Park by the members of the S.M.C.C. October 1884. The bat measures 34.25” and weighs 2 lbs 6oz. Sold with the late vendor’s research notes giving further information on the bat. Good/ very good condition.
