Colin Milburn. Northamptonshire, Western Australia & England 1960-1974. M.C.C. navy blue touring cap worn by Milburn during his Test career. The cap with M.C.C. emblem of St. George & Dragon has ‘C. Milburn’ handwritten to label. The cap was donated to David Capel by the Mother of Colin Milburn in 1994 for his Benefit Year. Very good condition. Sold with an official ‘Colin Milburn Testimonial’ brochure with match ticket laid to front cover for the Testimonial match Northamptonshire v International Cavaliers 5th September 1971. Signed in pencil to the front cover by David Larter and Clive Radley. Good condition. Qty 2.
Colin Milburn played in nine Test matches for England, before a car accident in 1969 led to the loss of much of his sight and prompted his retirement. His highest score was 243 for Western Australia v Queensland in 1968/69. He scored over 13,000 first class runs at an average of 33.07 and took 224 catches. He died in 1990.
The cap was previously sold in the David Capel Benefit auction held at Northampton in 1994.
