‘Boy Cricketer’. Excellent Parian ware figure of a boy cricketer resting against a tree stump holding a cricket bat to left hand. The figure is of a very high quality and with exceptionally good detailing. Approximately 11” tall. Circa 1860’s. A rare figure in very good condition
Parian ware was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons and was essentially designed to imitate carved marble. It is a type of bisque porcelain, prepared in a liquid form and cast in a mould.
