Pakistan tours to England 1967 and 1971. A good selection of forty six original press photographs from the 1967 series, and thirteen from 1971. Images from 1967 include match action from the Test series, also official team photographs of both the Pakistan and England teams, travelling etc. Players featured include Hanif Mohammad and Asif Iqbal walking off the field at tea on the third day in the Lord’s Test whilst being applauded by Colin Milburn and Tom Graveney, Geoff Arnold taking his first Test wicket, Alan Knott taking his first catch as England wicket-keeper, Hanif completing his century at Lord’s etc. General views include the Pakistan players walking on to the field at Lord’s for their first practice, the England team being presented to The Queen at Lord’s, covers on the pitch at Trent Bridge, and another of umpires Price and Buller inspecting the pitch to find a large pool of water covering the wicket etc. From 1971, individual players featured include Sadiq Mohammad, Mushtaq Mohammad, Asif Iqbal and Majid Khan. Other views include players disembarking at Heathrow Airport, a Pakistan team photograph at Worcester, ground staff at Lord’s putting the covers on the pitch, two policemen walking around a wet boundary edge beside empty stands, and a ‘No play to-day’ sign being hung on the Grace gates at Lord’s when play was abandoned on the third day of the second Test. Press agencies include Daily Sketch, Sport & General, Central Press Photos, Patrick Eagar, Universal Pictorial Press etc. Various sizes, the majority 10”x8” and smaller. Good condition.
England won the 1967 three match Test series 2-0 with one match drawn, and the 1971 series 1-0 with two matches drawn.
