‘The Incapables’. Two excellent original sepia photographs of the team, both laid down to one large photograph album page. Both photographs are taken in the garden of a house with players laying on the grass, in chairs and standing. The top photograph features the Incapables team of 1882, with the majority of the players in cricket attire, blazers and the odd cap with one lady present, the photograph below this features the Incapables team of 1885, with the players more formally dressed with two ladies present and two children looking through the house window at the camera. Excellent images of a time long past and rarely seen photographs. The photograph both measure 8.25”x6”. Very good condition.
The Incapables were a wandering cricket club who were originally ‘The Sparkenhoe Rovers Club’ adopting the name The ‘Incapables’ in 1872. Sparkenhoe is a district of Leicester. Over 15 years they played 80 matches, winning 50 of them and had first-class cricketers in their ranks including Rev. S.C. Voules and W.J. Ford.
