Padwick 3771. Franks 688. This is the third account of an Auckland tour to the south, following those of 1874 and 1882. Unlike previous tours most of the travel was by train, and they again played the major teams in the South Island as well as Wellington on the North Island. Only three matches were played, each of two innings, and they resulted in a win, a loss and a draw.

Previously sold by Chris Saunders Books who stated ‘Franks only found one copy in a New Zealand library, in Auckland. The only other copy I have knowledge of was in the Winder collection, bought from John Arlott in 1979 for £45. When the collection was sold in 1985 it fetched £30, only one of the great bargains to be had at that sale. The whereabouts of this copy is now unknown to me’.
