Lord Sheffield commemorative match 1990. Official programme for the match played at Fletching Cricket Club, Sussex, 9th September 1990, ‘to commemorate the contribution by the 3rd Earl of Sheffield to cricket between Australia and England 1884-1896’. Signed in ink to the centre spread pen pictures by twenty players. Signatures include Colin Cowdrey, Robin Hobbs, Paul Parker, Graham Roope, John Snow, Derek Underwood, Jim Parks, Bob Simpson, Tony Dodemaide etc. Good/ very good condition.
In 1891/92 Lord Sheffield took an England XI, captained by W.G. Grace, to Australia at his own expense. He donated £150 to the Australian cricket authorities, which led to the inauguration of the Sheffield Shield.
