Auction catalogues 1950-1978. Good and interesting selection of twenty six auction and dealer catalogues from the period stated. Catalogues for Christies, ‘The Parker Gallery’ and Sotheby & Co. Early catalogues featuring the Parker Gallery from 1950, Christie’s from 1951 and Sotheby & Co from 1951. Mixed selection, each sent to M.C.C. for their consideration, odd one with typed recommendation i.e. ‘Messrs Sotheby & Co beg to draw your attention to lot 339 in the enclosed catalogue’. Some cricket and sporting lots throughout the catalogues, some more than others. One that catches the eye is the Christie’s catalogue of April 4th 1952 which was the sale of the Hutchinson Collection of Sporting pictures (third portion). It included original portraits of Vanity Fair cricketers including W.G. Grace, Lord, Hawke, Ranji, Hornby, Spofforth, Bonnor etc, original cricket artwork for Punch magazine, original illustrations to ‘Felix on the Bat’, original drawings by J.C. Anderson, Felix, Watts etc. All in good condition with some annotation to odd lots. Formerly in the M.C.C. Collection
