‘The Refugees’. Early original pen and ink drawing of a rowing boat with men being pulled out and rescued onboard out of the water. The men wearing what appears to be ‘Pilgrims’ clothing and each with a football team name to his hat, back, leg etc. Teams include Everton, United, Wolverhampton, Stoke, City, Fulham etc. The town on the shore appears to be on fire and blazing and in the sky is written boldly ‘3rd Round’. The boat is called ‘Fourth Round’ so this is probably either the teams that have survived the 3rd round or the losers. The drawing signed ‘Leo C.’. Date unknown. The artwork measures 18.5”x14.5”. Heavy wear and some damage to the right hand side of the artwork, some discolouration to various areas. Mounted
