Rachael Heyhoe Flint. One handwritten and two typed letters from Heyhoe Flint to the comedian, Eric Morecambe, from his personal collection. In the first (typed) letter dated 28th January 1978, she invites Morecambe (‘best O.B.E. in the land’), with their mutual connection to Lords Taverners, to contribute to her autobiography ‘Knowing how cuckoo you are about cricket’. She jokingly asks for ‘50,000 words’ and offers remuneration of ‘28 books of Green Shield stamps and a holiday for 19 at British West Hatlepool[sic]!’. Signed by Heyhoe Flint (‘only M.B.E.!’). In the second, handwritten, letter dated 28th February [1978] she thanks him for agreeing to ‘add a bit of culture to my autobiography’ by way of an introduction, ‘Literally anything in a cricket/ women/ humorous vein would be most gratefully received’. Signed ‘Rachael HF (hot flush or hot foot!)’. In the third letter dated 20th March 1978 she thanks him again, with a donation to Lords Taverners to follow, and an invitation to the book launch later in the year. Sold with a signed cutting of her in batting action. File holes to the letters, otherwise in good condition.
