M.C.C. tour to Australia 1928/29. Original mono photograph of the M.C.C. and opposing teams and officials in a joint photograph set behind a pavilion. The players are wearing cricket attire and blazers and feature Chapman (Captain), Jardine, Ames, Freeman, White, Hammond, Mead, Tate, Larwood, Duckworth, Tyldesley and the tour manager, Toone. Missing from the M.C.C. group are Hobbs and Sutcliffe and research suggests the location may be for the tour match v Newcastle and Hunter District played 21st- 23rd December 1928, or v Tasmania at the North Tasmania Cricket Ground, Launceston, 12th- 15th January 1929 as neither played in these two matches. The photograph measures 12”x6.25”, laid to photographer’s mount and framed, overall 15.25”x9.5”. Photographer unknown. Minor surface marks to the image, otherwise in good condition. Sold with an original mono photograph of the M.C.C. touring party to Australia 1924/25, seated and standing in rows wearing tour blazers. Players include Gilligan (Captain), Hobbs, Woolley, Freeman, Sutcliffe, Sandham, Chapman etc. The photograph by Melba of Sydney measures 12.5”x10”, laid to official photographer’s mount, overall 20”x15.5”. Heavy wear and loss to the mount, surface damage to the photograph, otherwise in good condition. Qty 2.
