‘Victoria v New South Wales’. World Record Score 1926/27. Official large commemorative souvenir scorecard for the Sheffield Shield match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 24th- 29th December 1926, very nicely signed to the lower right corner ‘With Compts R.M. Bell’ (R.M. Bell, London County 1902-1904). The scorecard depicts New South Wales batting first and scoring 221, (Norbert Phillips 52), Victoria replying with an astonishing 1107 all out. The first wicket fell at 375, Woodfull out for 133. The second to go was Stork Hendry (100) with the score at 594. The third wicket fell at 614 when Bill Ponsford was dismissed for 352, and Jack Ryder made 295. Arthur Mailey bowled 64 eight ball overs, taking four wickets for 362 runs. New South Wales were then bowled out for 230, Albert Hartkopf taking 6/98, Victoria winning by an innings and 656 runs. 7.75”x11.25”. Good/ very good condition. Rare
Victoria’s score of 1107 runs is still the record highest first-class innings total in cricket history and the third highest largest innings victory.
