World War II scorecards 1939-1945. Eleven original wartime scorecards including one overseas official folding scorecard for the wartime match, H.E. Governor’s XII v Major General D. Stuart’s XII, played at Eden Gardens, Bombay on the 6th- 8th January 1945. The match featured many Indian and the odd England Test player. Players included Compton, Hardstaff, Mankad, Mushtaq Ali, C.S. Nayudu, Chatterjee, Chowdhury, Amarnath etc. Some wear and soiling. Others include eight matches played at Lord’s, British Empire XI v. London Counties XI 10th August 1940, West Indies v. Sir Pelham Warner’s XI 22nd August 1940, An England XI v. West Indies (Colonial Comforts Fund) 29th May 1943, four for England v. Australia 29th May 1944, 19th & 21st May 1945, 14th & 16th July 1945, and 6th- 8th August 1945, also Oxford v. Cambridge 23rd June 1945. Two others are for Lords and Commons v. Houses of Parliament Staff, Kennington Oval 24th June 1939, and Derbyshire XI v Sheffield Association XI ‘Test and County “Stars” at Butterley’, 14th September 1941, featuring notable players including Genders, Paynter, G. & A.V. Pope (Derbyshire), Washbrook, Simpson (Sheffield) etc. The majority with incomplete printed and/ or handwritten scores. Sold with two single sided programmes listing the players for West of England XI matches v. Royal Australian Air Force and v. United Services XI, presumed to have been played in Gloucestershire, both undated. Qty 13. Some faults, overall in generally good condition.
