‘The Cricketers of Consett and District Club. An Illustrated Souvenir compiled by a member’. John J. Raw. Published by the Mail & Leader, Newcastle upon Tyne 1907. Original paper wrappers. 83pp plus advertising. This was a presentation copy to C.B. Fry with Fry’s ownership signature in pencil to title page. Bookplates of A.E. Winder and J.D.S. Dale to inside front and rear covers. Age toning to the wrappers with slight splitting to spine, otherwise in good condition. Padwick 1882-1. Slipped in is a single page handwritten letter in ink dated ‘Oct 1907’ from Raw, Captain of the Club, to C.B. Fry offering the title as a gift, ‘The cricket represented is scarcely of the class that will be of much interest to you, but it is the best we, in this remote part can as yet offer’. Raw closes with the hope that Fry will contribute a short article for a future publication. Folds to the letter with some splitting to folds, otherwise in good condition.
