Slipped in is a brown paper cutting with handwritten annotation in ink in a different (unknown) hand, ‘Gaston writes in my copy of Taylor that Thackeray’s “Newcome’s character Fred Bayham” is Willliam Bolland’. Bound in red cloth, ornate gilt title to front. Early replacement black leather spine with decorative gilt title. Padwick 867. Good condition.
