‘Cricket Notes... with a letter containing Practical Hints’. William Bolland and William Clark. Trelawny Saunders, London 1851. 155pp. Comprises historical essays, reminiscences and commentary. Presentation copy with dedication in ink to inside front cover to ‘Mr John Halley. Presented to him by the Author 1851’. Slipped in is a brown paper cutting with handwritten annotation in ink in a different (unknown) hand, ‘Gaston writes in my copy of Taylor that Thackeray’s “Newcome’s character Fred Bayham” is Willliam Bolland’. Bound in red cloth, ornate gilt title to front. Early replacement black leather spine with decorative gilt title. Padwick 867. Good condition.
