Manchester United ‘Busby Babes’ 1957. Three original and complete copies of newspapers with extensive coverage of the Munich air disaster in which a number of players lost their lives. Issues are Evening Chronicle 6th February 1957 ‘Late Night Final’ edition and Friday 7th February 1957 ‘Stockport Edition Last Extra’, and the Evening Standard Friday 7th February 1957 ‘Mid-day Edition’. All three, with front, back and inside page coverage of the immediate reports of the crash and the fight to save the lives of the team manager, Matt Busby, and players Danny Blanchflower, Johnny Berry and Duncan Edwards who were in critical condition in hospital. Very good condition.
Busby, Berry and Blanchflower recovered but Berry and Blanchflower never played again. Duncan Edwards died fifteen days later.
