Alexander E. Davis, Warwickshire and England scorer. A good selection of ceramics, metalware and glass, signed miniature cricket bats etc. Items include a Sydney F. Barnes of Lancashire & England 7” side plate with colour transfer printed vignette of Barnes in bowling pose to centre, with inscription ‘Syd. F. Barnes-Famous International Bowler’. The plates were produced to commemorate Barnes taking six wickets for 24 runs for England v Australia in Australia 1908’. Three Staffordshire ground waisted mugs with strap handles and beaded rims. With three relief moulded figures of a batsman, bowler and wicket keeper, believed to be Lillywhite, Pilch and Box. c1860, one in blue, various sizes, cricket dog bookend match holders, two modern cricket teapots, a cricket ball whisky flask, four various sized cricket bats with the printed signatures of the Australia v England 1936-37Surrey team 1956, England 1957, Australia 1980 etc, the England 1957 bat signed to the verso by Brian Lara etc. Some faults, good condition
Davis was the Warwickshire scorer from 1988 to 1998. In 1994 he was in the Caribbean with England when he recorded every single run scored by Brian Lara in his Test Match record breaking 375 in Antigua, only to follow this two months later by recording every run in Lara’s momentous 501* against Durham at Edgbaston. He died in 2015 at the age of 92
