M.C.C. tour to Australia 1924/25. ‘A Voyage with the Mails Between Brisbane- London... A memento by an amateur photographer’. London Stereoscopic Company, London, fourth edition c.1920. A large format souvenir book with decorative blue cloth, comprising photographs and descriptions of ports of call on the journey on the Orient Line ‘S.S. Ormonde’. Includes a collection of twenty eight signatures in ink on two facing pages, including on the ‘Autographs’ page, each within printed borders, of seventeen members of the M.C.C. touring party who made the voyage. Also a further ten signatures of passengers to the rear. Players’ signatures, nicely signed in ink, are Gilligan (Captain), Sandham, Woolley, Whysall, Douglas, Freeman, Tate, Howell, Strudwick, Tyldesley, Kilner, Sutcliffe, Hendren, Hearne, Chapman, Bryan and Toone (Manager). Lacking the signature of Jack Hobbs. The book was signed by the M.C.C. team on their outward journey from Tilbury to Melbourne and is dated 13th September 1924. Original decorative boards. Wear to covers which are detached, rear page and endpaper detached, splitting to spine paper. Some internal foxing, otherwise in good condition.
