Public Schools cricket 1843-1892. Seven titles relating to public school cricket at Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Clifton College, Uppingham etc. Titles include ‘The Scores of the Cricket Matches Played at Rugby School from the year 1831 [to 1845]’, printed by J.S. Crossley, Rugby c.1845, original paper wrappers with wear and staining. ‘John Lillywhite’s Public School Matches. A correct account of all the matches of which scores are in existence, played between the schools of Eton, Harrow, and Winchester from 1805 to 1869’. Compiled by Arthur Haygarth. London 1869. Original paper wrappers retained. Ownership stamp to title page for K.A. Auty, Ontario. Wear and soiling to wrappers, tape repair to spine, some foxing to pages. ‘The Public School Matches and those we meet there. Ups and Downs of a Public School by a Wykehamist’ Frederick Gale. George Routledge & Sons. London 1867. Original pictorial boards with wear, replacement spine. Sold with a version in paper wrappers published in 1853, spine broken. ‘A Few Hints on Cricket by an Etonian’, Eton 1871, rebound in green cloth lacking original wrappers. Bookplate of A.E. Winder to inside front cover. Light foxing and vertical fold etc. All titles with faults as described.
’Lillywhite’s Public School Matches’ was published in 1853-1856, 1861, 1864, 1867-1869, the 1869 edition titled ‘John Lillywhite’s Public School Matches’.
