General cricket histories. Seven titles, the majority hardbacks with dustwrappers. ‘The Story of Warwickshire Cricket’, Leslie Duckworth, London 1974, with twenty eight signatures of players on pieces laid down to rear pages including R.E.S. Wyatt, B.E. Fletcher, R.H. Jones, J.A. Jameson, K.A. Taylor, T.L. Pritchard, C.W.C. Grove, R.T. Spooner, H.E. Dollery, W.A. Hill, L.T.A. Bates, J.S. Ord etc., also the signature in pink of Barbara Cartland to a limited edition commemorative cover laid down to front endpaper, with other photographs, collectors’ cards, invitation etc. Two titles by E.E. Snow, ‘Leicestershire Cricket 1949 to 1977’, London 1977, signed to the title page by the author and to the facing page by Jack Birkenshaw, and ‘A History of Leicestershire Cricket’, Leicester 1949. ‘Northamptonshire Cricket. A History’, J.D. Coldham, London 1959, signed to the front endpaper by David Larter, Dennis Brookes and Keith Archer. ‘More Than A Game’, John Major, London 2007, signed by Major. Also two volumes of ‘South African Cricket’, Vol. III 1927-1947, Louis Duffus, Johannesburg 1948 in green cloth, and Vol. IV 1947-1960, Brian Bassano 1996 (softback). Good condition.
The celebrated writer, Barbara Cartland, was the grand-daughter of George Cartland, first chairman of Warwickshire C.C.C. and the first player to score a fifty at Edgbaston.
