William John ‘Bill’ Edrich. Middlesex & England 1937-1958. ‘1938: 1000 Runs By End of May’. Original mono press photograph of Edrich being congratulated by Don Bradman with Australia wicketkeeper Walker and Fleetwood-Smith looking on applauding. Edrich reached 1,000 first class runs for the season before the end of May during the Middlesex v Australians tour match at Lord’s, 28th-31st May 1938. Signed in ink to the photograph by all four featured players. The photograph measures approx. 11.5” x9.5”. Mounted, framed and glazed in modern frame, overall 13”x11.5”. Some fading to the signatures, otherwise in good/ very good condition
Edrich was tantalisingly close to the milestone going in to the match and was dismissed for only nine runs in the first innings, but reached the target in the second innings when he had scored ten. The match was drawn
