Wolverhampton Wanderers 1884. Very early original sepia photograph of the ‘Wanderers “Wrekin Cup” Team, 1884’, the players seated and standing wearing football attire, surrounding the trophy to the centre. The photograph by William J. Sadler of Wolverhampton measures 10.75”x9.25”, laid to official photographer’s mount, overall 21”x16”. Title and players’ names hand printed to lower mount border. A replacement mount with similarly styled title is loosely superimposed. Named players include Brodie (Captain), Blackham, Cliff, J. & I. Griffiths, Baynton, Mason, Hadley, Lowder etc. The original mount with some loss and staining, the photograph in good/ very good condition. A very early team photograph.
