Thomas Henry Clark’s Benefit Year 1961. ‘Autographs of Test Teams and County Cricketers’. Hardback album produced by Surrey C.C.C. for Clark’s Benefit Year, with gold lettering and decoration to front board, biography and mono photograph of Clark to introduction, foreword by Peter May, signed by May. These Benefit books were originally signed by the teams to the inside pages, each page with decorative borders and page to a team, from the year of the Benefit. The signatures consist of the Surrey team (14 signatures), Yorkshire (16), Middlesex (12), Lancashire (14), Derbyshire (12), Essex (13), Sussex (14), Kent (12), Hampshire (12), Leicestershire (13), Nottinghamshire (11), Northamptonshire (14), Glamorgan (12), Gloucestershire (12), Somerset (17), Warwickshire (13), Worcestershire (19), England (12), and South Africa (15). Over 250 signatures very neatly signed. The Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, India, New Zealand and ‘Cricket Personalities’ pages unsigned. Excellent condition.
Tom Clark played for Surrey C.C.C. from 1947 to 1960. A good footballer he played for Walsall and Aston Villa. Surrey produced similar books for Sandy Tait in 1952 and Arthur McIntyre in 1955.
