‘Maurice Tate’. John Arlott. London ‘Cricketing Lives’ series, 1st Edition 1951. Arlott’s original 62pp typescript for the book with amendments and alterations in ink in Arlott’s distinctive hand. The typescript is contained in a paper folder, which is preserved in a specially made box by Bayntuns with green cloth-covered boards and leather title label to the front. Inset into the box is a first edition copy of the published book. Padwick 8118. Some fraying to the typescript page edges and age toning, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
Tate was Arlott’s boyhood hero and accordingly he dedicated this title ‘To Maurice Tate, because I like him’.
