‘Lord Sheffield’s Eleven v. M.C.C. & Ground’ 1891. Early original single sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Sheffield Park, Uckfield, 25th & 26th May 1891. M.C.C., comprising W.G. Grace, Webbe, O’Brien, Cranston, Pope, Ferris, Attewell etc., batted first in a rain affected match and were dismissed for 109. Lord Sheffield had six Sussex players in his team, including Newham, Murdoch, Marlow, Somerset, Phillips and Lowe, and they scored 172 in reply. In their second innings M.C.C. barely held on for a draw having reached 62/9 at the close of play. Lohmann and Wright bowled unchanged through both innings for Lord Sheffield. Printed by Crowhurst of Brighton ‘Printer to the S.C.C.C.’. 5”x7.5”. Originally from the collection of A.W.F. Somerset who played in the match. Small loss to two corners, horizontal fold, otherwise in good condition.
