New Zealand inaugural tour to England 1927. Two rarer original official scorecards for matches played on the tour. One for the match v Northumberland at Jesmond, 22nd & 23rd June 1927 with complete printed scores. New Zealand (476, Blunt 195) beat Northumberland (272 & 201) by an innings and three runs. Printed on the ground by Andrew Reid, Newcastle, 4.5”x6”. The other is a small folding scorecard with incomplete printed scores for the match v East of England at Wisbech, 9th & 11th July 1927. The East (170 & 145) lost to New Zealand (243 & 76/2) by eight wickets. Printed by C.W. Bell of Wisbech, 6”x4.5”. Both scorecards in very good condition.
No Test matches were played on the 1927 tour, but of the twenty six first class matches New Zealand defeated Sussex, Worcestershire, Glamorgan, Somerset and Derbyshire and drew a good number. On the strength of this they were accorded Test status and played their first Test match, against England, in January 1930.
