West Indies tour to England 1928. Four official scorecards from the tour including two Test matches. One for their inaugural first Test v England at Lord’s 23rd- 26th June 1928, with annotated comments about Wally Hammond, one claiming ‘Wally’s innings of 45 was worth 2 of Tyldesley’s century’, another comment written in 1965 following Hammond’s death. England won the match by an innings and 58 runs. The other scorecard is for the 3rd Test, Kennington Oval, 11th- 14th August 1928, England won by an innings and 71 runs. Sold with two official scorecards for tour matches, v Surrey, Kennington Oval, 12th- 15th May and v Lancashire, 30th June- 3rd July, both matches drawn. All four scorecards with incomplete printed and handwritten scores. Folds and some soiling, the Surrey card with hole to centre, otherwise in generally good condition.
The 1928 tour was the first time West Indies played Test cricket. They lost all three Tests by an innings and won only five of their first-class matches on the tour.
