Australia tour to England 1930. Bradman’s first tour to England. Seven official scorecards for two Test and five tour matches played on the 1930 tour, all with incomplete printed and/ or handwritten scores unless stated. Test match scorecards are 1st Test, Trent Bridge, 13th- 17th June, England won by 93 runs. 5th Test, Kennington Oval, 16th- 22nd August (timeless Test), Australia won by an innings and 39 runs scoring 695 in their only innings (Bradman 232, Ponsford 110). Tour match scorecards are v Essex, Leyton, 7th- 9th May, Australians won by 207 runs. v Oxford University, Oxford, 28th & 29th May, Australians won by an innings and 158 runs. v Middlesex, Lord’s, 4th- 6th June, Australians won by five wickets. v Yorkshire, Bradford, 2nd- 4th July, Australians won by ten wickets, complete handwritten scores in ink. v Gloucestershire, Bristol, 23rd- 26th August, match tied, Gloucestershire scoring 72 & 202, Australians 157 & 117. The Yorkshire scorecard with tape repair, others with some soiling and wear, otherwise in generally good condition.
With the Ashes series tied at 1-1 and two matches drawn, the 5th Test was played to a result, Australia’s victory securing a 2-1 series win.
