Centenary of the Marylebone Cricket Club 1787-1887. Original ‘Plan of Tables’ for the Centenary Anniversary Dinner held at Marylebone Cricket Club, Lord’s Cricket Ground on the 15th June 1887. Hon. E. Chandos Leigh, President. Folding table plan with attractive and decorative front cover. This was Isaac Donnithorne Walker’s copy (Middlesex 1862-1884) and has his name, ‘Mr I.D. Walker’ handwritten to lower border of the front cover. Printed by Jas. Truscott & Son of Suffolk Lane. Sold with an accompanying ‘Centenary Dinner Toast List’ card and blank menu card. Minor splitting to folds, otherwise in good/ very good condition. Rare.
Isaac Walker was the youngest of the seven Walker brothers of Southgate who all played for Middlesex and were instrumental in the founding of Middlesex C.C.C. in 1864 and establishing Lord’s as their home ground. He took over the Middlesex captaincy from his brother Edward in 1873, and held the position until 1884.
