West Indies v England 1929/30. Album page very nicely signed by the twelve members of the West Indies team who played England in the 2nd Test at Port of Spain, Trinidad, 1st- 6th February 1930. Signatures are Betancourt (Captain), Grell, Headley, Small, Roach, Griffith, Achong, de Caires, St Hill, Hunte, Constantine, and one other unidentified (twelfth man?). Corners trimmed, minor soiling, otherwise in good condition. A rare set of West Indies signatures.
This was Nelson Betancourt’s debut and only Test match for the West Indies, selected as Captain on account of the policy of appointing a local captain for each match of the series. At 42 years old, he remains the oldest Test debutant for the West Indies. England won the match by 167 runs, and the four match series ended 1-1 with two games drawn.
