‘8 Gentlemen and 3 Professionals v 14 Young Players of the County [Sussex Colts]’ 1876. Early original single sided ‘Authorised Cricket Score’ card with complete printed scores for the match played at Hove, 5th & 6th June 1876. Sussex Colts (142 & 217) drew with the Gentlemen (201 & 17/4). Top scorer in the match was Charles Kennedy with 87 for the Gentlemen in their first innings, with other notables including Henry Phillips and Richard Fillery. Of the Sussex Colts team, led by Sussex captain Charles Smith, only Alfred Payne (18 matches), Frederick Newland (3) and Charles Charlwood (3) went on to play at first-class level.
