‘Grand Cricket Match. Sussex v. Derbyshire’ 1883. Early original single sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at the County Ground, Derby, 30th July- 1st August 1883. Scheduled for three days but completed in two, Sussex batted first and posted a score of 250, captain Herbert Whitfield top scoring with 67. Derbyshire then twice failed to reach 100, scoring 97 in their first innings having at one stage been 16/6, Jessie Hide taking five wickets for 34 runs, and then being bowled out again following on for 85. Sussex won by an innings and 68 runs. Advertising to lower border for ‘R.G. Barlow of the Lancashire County Eleven, cricket outfitter &c’. 4.5”x6”. Ex Roger Mann collection. Slight rounding to corners, horizontal fold, otherwise in good condition.
