Albert Edward Relf. Sussex, Auckland & England 1900-1921. Early original cabinet card studio portrait photograph of Relf, head and shoulders wearing formal attire. Signed in black ink ‘A.E. Relf’ to the lower mount border. The photograph by Ralph & Julyan of King’s Lynn. 4.25”x6.5”. Pin hole with some rusting to top edge, small surface mark to centre, otherwise in good condition.
Relf played in 13 Test matches for England, touring Australia in 1903/04, South Africa 1905/06, 1913/14 and West Indies 1912-13. He achieved the ‘double’ of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in a season eight times. Relf died in 1937 by his own hand.
