Lancashire C.C.C. 1903-1921. Four early original mono postcards, of which three are real photographs, of Lancashire teams of the period. Three depict the teams seated and standing in rows wearing cricket attire and blazers, with printed players’ names and/ or title to lower margin. Teams/ series are 1903, Dainty Series (postmarked 1903), 1908, Davidson Brothers series no. 4109, 1921 Rotary series no. 3834, and another of the team lined up in one row wearing cricket attire, dated 24th August 1914 for the County match v Hampshire, by The Bournemouth View Co. Players featured include MacLaren, Hornby, Brearley, Poidevin, Stanning, Worsley, Heap, Dean, Kermode, Huddleston, Makepeace, E., R. & J. Tyldesley etc. All postally unused with one exception. Good/ very good condition.
The team postcard of 1921 also features Morice Carlos Bird (Lancashire, Surrey & England 1907-1921). Bird played five matches for Lancashire in 1907. The ‘Lancashire’ team postcard appears to relate to a match between Sir Edwin Stockton’s England XI and Miles Kenyon’s Lancashire County XI played at The Crimble Ground, Heywood, 23rd April 1921, when Bird played for the Lancashire XI.
