England v West Indies 1928. Large original mono combined team photograph of the two teams standing and seated in rows wearing blazers at Lord’s for the West Indies’ inaugural Test match, 23rd- 26th June 1928 June 1928. Players include Nunes, Challenor, Browne, Constantine, Fernandes, Francis, Jardine, Tate, Chapman, Larwood, Sutcliffe, Hammond, Tyldesley, Freeman etc. The photograph measures 11.5”x9.75” laid to trimmed album page. Photographer unknown. Sold with an official circular ticket for admission to the Members’ Enclosures for the first day’s play, 23rd June. An excellent and rare image in very good condition.
This was the first official Test match played by the West Indies. England won by an innings and 58 runs. Ernest Tyldesley top scored in the match with 122 in England’s only innings.
